Sophia Giovannitti (b. 1992) is an artist and author who lives in New York. She is interested in creating scenarios that antagonize and disturb traditional modes of value extraction from artists and workers, privileging states of confusion, manipulation, and potential. She has exhibited and performed widely, most recently at 99 Canal (NY), Amant (Brooklyn), Blade Study (NY), and forthcoming at MIT List (Cambridge). Her first book Working Girl: On Selling Art and Selling Sex was published by Verso in May 2023, and subsequently translated into Italian (Johan & Levi) and Czech (Transit), forthcoming in Greek (Dolce) and Spanish (Diamantina). She and her work have been the subject of interview and review in 4Columns, Document Journal, Cultured, Interview, ArtReview, frieze, e-flux, Dazed, and Bomb, among others. She is presently at work on her second book, Terms of Service, forthcoming from Astra House in 2027.
